Hashi Game DESCRIPTION

Hashi is a typical puzzle game, where you try to connect islands with bridges.
The goal of Hashi is to connect every island with as much bridges as the number on the island displays. Two connecting islands can either have one or two bridges.
You win Hashi, when every island is connected either directly or indirectly with every other island. That means that they must build a closed network. But be aware, that bridges must not be crossing each other.

Each game is generated and therefore unique, so there are unlimited games to play without any payment.

Features:
– Unlimited Puzzles for free
– Undo / Redo
– Timer / Personal high score
– Game is automatically saved
– Different difficulties
– Night mode
– Detailed help
– Leaderboards
– Achievements

The gameplay of Hashi is very simple: You press on the island you want to connect, shift to the island you want to connect it to and release your finger on that island. With that, a bridge is built. Repeat to build two bridges, and again to remove the bridges.

There are different levels in Hashi that have different size of the field. But don’t be afraid to try a more difficult level, as every level will be saved, so you can continue on that later.

Methods:
Usually it is useful to start with the highest numbered islands. Building bridges eliminates the possibility for other bridges, as they may not cross. With that it forces to place another bridge, as there are no more possibilities.
An island with 3 in a corner, an island with 5 along a side and island of 7 in the middle requires at least one bridge to every direction.
A corner island with 4, an island along a side with 6 and an island with 8, requires two bridges to every direction.
The same is of course the same for 3 and 4 that only have two directions left and for 5 and 6 that have only three directions left.
It is advisable to watch out for islands that have no more options left. For instance, when you have an island with 1 and a possibility to every direction, you connect it, as soon as three of these possibilities have gone, due to blocking bridges.
Always keep in mind, that all island must be connected to one single network. Therefore some connections are not possible, such as connecting two 1 together.

History:
The first version of Hashi (the full name is Hashiwokakero) was published in September 1990 in the magazine Puzzle Communication Nikoli. Although an earlier version of the game has already been published in December 1989.

Game REVIEWS

Creator message popup AFTER a completed game, states ads hardly cover costs. He/she? rattled the tip jar a singular time, no pressure, and provided a link with more details about data usage etc. etc. 5 stars for honesty. 5 stars for the recent-ish update with larger grid sizes. Thanks.

Leo

Great app, well made and user friendly. The game itself got a bit boring after I learned the solving algorithm, but it was fun and pleasant experience anyway

Veronica

Super fun puzzle game, had it for months and love playing it in my spare moments. Only time I've ever been happy to pay to remove adds for a small developer

Logan

This is my most played phone game. The new updated added a larger more difficult puzzle which will help to keep me interested for many more hours.

Guest

LOVE the changes! Bigger games, an option to NOT need advanced methods. Just wish it was brighter, higher contrast option. Great game though! I'm completely addicted!
----------
Thanks for your review. Is the problem of the contrast, because you are color blind, or are you seeing all colors equally? Sorry for the indiscreet question, but this helps me find a solution without changing the complete color concept.

Peter

This is great but can be further improved by having option to go back to the ones that you couldn't finish previously. Edited: Change to 4 stars for adding the Insane level. Now it's almost perfect!
----------
Thanks for your review. Unfortunately this is not possible, as the games are not saved (only the current one). You would need to be able to control them, otherwise it would drastically increase the memory usage and wouldn't bring any benefit. The concept of the app is to be simple, to serve a better user experience and this wouldn't fit this idea.

Ian

A wonderfully addictive puzzle game. Simple yet challenging. Intuitive gameplay.

Guest

Challenging but the levels help you grow. There are adds but noy annoying at all.

Jose

great new update, with bigger longish boards. The only thing I can point out is that the I have to change the theme EVERY SINGLE TIME I play, cause... It doesnt save the dark theme setting? Been playing for years, great wind down little puzzle game.

Mark

Its a great game to kill time with... Especially if you like logic puzzle... Quick games...

Chris

OMG Insane mode and Custom as well! Great update Mar 15 2023! Thanks Simon! Great puzzle game! Heavy mode really presents a challenge when you have to work out many steps ahead. It can provide a good mental workout! Also love that I can use this app without data/wi-fi, usually during my daily commute on the subway.

Russ

What a great game! This has got to be the best way time kill a few minutes here and there. I purchased this a while a go and was playing this for a few years before that. One thing that would be nice, is to have the option to try the higher two levels, I use the S pen on a note 8, works great and no worry about over sized fingers making a mess of the puzzle lol Edit: A great game made even better now! Love the new levels!!

Matt

Very addictive game I find myself playing for hours, also there aren't too many ads

Reeve

Good interface, simple game, and very few/very short ads. If you enjoy sudoku, you will like this game.

Joaopop

Very good game and they seem to listen to comments. Asked a while ago if they could ask the other dificulties that were only available for tablet cuz the screen was bigger. They added them with a zoom function! Couldn't be happier!

Neil

Ads got way too annoying. Started playing again after a year, and had to stop because of how aggressive the ads are, between each game. Sometimes you get a video you can't skip, then a page showing the product (which you can only skip after some seconds), and then a new page with a link to the product with again waiting time. On the last page the "close" button is extremely small, so you might open the app store accidentally. Really annoying when filling of a board can take 1-2 minutes.

Scott

Good, simple game that can be challenging if you want it to be, or just a fun little brain teaser. Puzzles can take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes to solve depending on difficult, of which there are several levels. Ads are not too frequent or intrusive. Graphics are clean and has a night mode option as well.

Dan

Relaxing. The "hard" setting is just hard enough to not be brainless, without being impossible. The vast majority of all puzzles can be solved without guesswork once you figure out a few "rules" regarding how many connections a bubble can have. I wish there was an "extreme" difficulty level though. And perhaps user-created puzzles. Ads are relatively unintrusive.

Ollie

4/5 for specially the app, 5/5 for the game. I love puzzle games and Hashi definitely falls under that. The apps used to show up after a couple of games (rounds?), now they're after every game. I decided to splurge on myself and buy no ads because I love playing while doing other things like watching TV or listening to a podcast. At one point recently, within the last 2-3 months, they added a mode above hard. Which I loved. They got rid of it pretty quickly. I hope they bring it back.

Julian

Super fun. The only problem (apart from the advertisement, which is fair enough as the programmer deserves some income for this app) is that when I try to build a bridge on the far left or right edge of the screen, my phone thinks I want to swipe back and I end up in the main menu all the time.
