App REVIEWS

Bill

The stars, chart and the application, it's quite beautiful, especially with the music. I think it could use a little more instruction on finding the particular star cluster, matching the star with the chart & the approximate time as I have found some difficulty in matching Stars with the chart. Most of the planets in May are not available until early morning-the chart indicates that they are available when notified, in reality, they are not But for a free application it's display its top grade

Greg

Visually nice, but fuctionally not good at all. No search function, the screen randomly jumps around to different views, known objects like the moon show up up in vastly different locations than actual, objects are in different locations one minute to the next. Its fun to look at for a few minutes, but its basically worthless if you want to find something to point your telescope at

Alpha

A very nice experience for the most part. I paid for some extras and think it was well worth it. Only bad thing is the *&$%ing auto zoom resets each time I close the app, even though I change the settings. This is really annoying because I hate this feature and I have to turn it off everything I use it, so basically almost every night. Other than that, I definitely recommend it.

Nonya

Very good. However, my back door is directly on the east west line. Literally, the sun blazes full light when it rises directly in my window. The map is off by a bit. When i look at the sun it shows it to the left An i mean i have to turn myself about half a foot to find the sun. I have to manually line it up. If this was more accurate its be 5stars, but everything else is perfect. Graphics are amazing. Clear and vivid. Simple and easy. Location not so much.

Tia

Overall I enjoy the app, but I have two complaints. First, I find it difficult to figure out where things are unless I can use the moon to get my position. I would like for there to be instructions on using the compass in the bottom corner. Second, I appreciate the notification of special sightings, but often they arrive too late For example, the notice says a planets viewing is best around sunset, but I get the notice well after it is dark.

Tyson

Not only is this an extremely accurate app when it comes to finding stars, constellations, and cosmic happenings, but also the graphics are amazing, it's loads of fun, and the directional assistance in finding the event makes it extremely easy for a space novice such as myself to navigate.

Leonard

Truly a fantastic opportunity to view the heavens above. 01/19/22 Ok, since my last review I have had to uninstall the app several times. I kept loosing the point arrow. Recently, regardless of the scheduled event, the arrow always points to the planet Uranus? Don't know if this is a joke or not, I have now uninstall the app again. Maybe the techs can figure what's going on, I hope so I really have enjoyed the app when it's working correctly.

Nealy

Extremely bright and flashy. Not good for trying to see stars in the dark. Also very hard to bring up the settings menu. Have to tap many times for it to come up. It did show the stars and everything but the map is so zoomed in that it is hard to navigate. There are other apps that actually show info on objects and have navigable maps, this one ain't it.

Daren

I haven't been able to use this app in years without the compass being completely incorrect and having severe drifting. I let it go for years because my phone was very old. But now I have a top of the line Google Pixel 6 Pro. It just came out. Same exact issues. North was a solid 90+ degrees off and when I held it in the sky without moving, the screen just constantly drifts, like I'm spinning around in circles. So it did this to me on 2 phones, so I'm guessing it's not my fault.

Karen

I really like the functionality of finding the star/planet/constellation that I'm looking for. The thing that drives me crazy are the notifications that I receive from the app. When you see your notification, you can only see the first few words, something like, "See Mercury at its...", but when you click on the notification to see the whole message, it just takes you straight into the celestial view. I never know what the notification was about, so it's useless.

Sajin688

It's definitely worth 5 stars but there are definitely some things worth fixing. Like when you get the alerts for specific things to look for it just takes you into the app and then doesn't explain anything or give like any little details about the event. Also wish you could zoom our more it's kinda hard to see sometimes with how little you can zoom back out. The zoom in on things works great but the widescreen zoom out does not.

Marianne

One of my faves. I love this app. Its been so helpful to learn how to orient yourself with the night sky. The ethereal music is beautiful, the graphic overlays are nice. I really like the app. I guess my only complaint would be the notifications. I love how it shows arrows to point out what its talking about but sometimes I click on them without thinking or reading the entire thing and then the message is gone. Wish you could see the messages inside the app once was clicked.

Jasmine

Love the visuals! The music is great for the atmosphere and the alerts are right on time! Very handy for an amateur astronomers like myself and it is best used when you're curious about where everything is sun, moon, etc. I had the best experience with this last summer out on a cookout in the backyard and the sky was clear with lots of stars. I made full progress on my findings thanks to this app. I know I mentioned the music before, but it gave me the best summer memory I ever had in 2020!😊😁

Matthew

One flaw so far. I can't change the time while looking up. I have to look down at the horizon for the options to pop up. I think I should be able to access the options when looking anywhere. Kind of annoying when I'm trying to change the time and follow something, but having to reset my position to do it. I think a simple tap on - tap off for the options would be nice. Good other than that.

Rod

Excellent! As a casual astronomer, it has everything I want. I can call up a constellation to study the star names. The encyclopedia disappears automatically when my phone is raised above the horizon. Similarly, settings buttons disappear when the phone is above the horizon, keeping full use of the screen. Helpful zoom. Great graphics. Full control over how much info I want displayed. Excellent settings menu. Perfection! I suspect that some complaints are due to not understanding the settings.

网友

Edit 3/3/2020: Uninstalling. No improvement from my previous review in 2018. This app tracks nothing. You have to know what you're pointing your phone at because the app doesn't track. If there's no moon you may as well look up wearing a blindfold! You have to have an idea of where the stars/planets are you want to look at. It doesn't stay positioned correctly from one use to the next.

Heidi

This is a useful app but could be better. My biggest problem with is if your tablet is not picking up it's GPS location, then trying to fine tune where you are is next to impossible. The map is on a continental level and can't be zoomed in any more than that. I'd say, either allow for direct input of coordinates or enable a finer zoom, at least down to a state level, if not city.

lyss

I loved this app! I used it almost every night when I had my Samsung phone but since I switched to GooglePixel I have not been able to enjoy any of the apps options. My screen has to be manually moved and attaches to no one point in the sky. The animations dont work and neither do the other options. Is it possible for these problems to be fixed anytime soon?

Jordi

Super smooth U.I, 60 FPS is a big plus! But more importantly, it's accurate, at least while on a Wi-Fi network and location/GPS enabled. After using the app for around ten minutes, I decided to go ahead and buy the full version. The sheer selection of search options is fantastic. You wouldn't normally have all these objects being displayed on any other app. Well worth the $3!

Jennifer

excellent app! I look at the heavens all the time and could never tell what I was looking at. I have tried using books (requires too much up and down on the neck), glow-in-the-dark spin wheels (worthless) and other devices to no avail. In Eygpt, I discovered Star Tracker and I've been using it ever since. Just scan the sky and you have it in front of you. It's crazy easy and fun. Highly recommended. A++++
