App REVIEWS
Do yourself a favor and just get brave browser as this one barely works. They keep updating it and changing settings while not fixing big issues. Now they've taken tab groups away and none of the experiment flags do anything, they're just for show. I genuinely don't understand why it's gotten so much worse in the last couple years. I've used chrome for nearly 16 years and now I'm finally looking for something better.
Great app... Only 3 stars tho because it use to always automatically pop-up my usernames and passwords as soon as I clicked that spot.. Now it doesn't so I have to back out of what I'm doing and go to settings to look it up manually... Yes, I have it set to save passwords and prefilled them, but it still doesn't work... So help me fix this and you will get 5 stars...
Im usually a pc or tablet user finding chrome fast but very intrusive. Now trying it more in phone What a load of rubbish. VERY SLOW!!!! Often freezes, have to reload pages Flips between desktop and preset style Starts as one page with tabs on all open sites; then changes to only single pages, which have to be swiped along one at a time until reaching required page Doesnt ask for confirmation for page closure, when in multitab on 1 page so easy to close wrong one WARNING!! Very user unfriendly

Besides the tab issue I had to fix in flags or painful lack of customization, it has broken yet another thing on an increasingly long list. I'm studying to be a developer. I liked to view my portfolio in full desktop mode on Chrome since a lot of people use it on smartphones. After the last update, it no longer renders in full desktop mode and breaks other code. However the other 5 browsers I tested in still do render fine. Hardly any reason to use it anymore.
Chrome really seemed to be moving in the right direction till the most recent update. All of the tab groups are now gone, which is one of the features that I thought really helped it stand out. Second some of the security features like having it delete cookies, etc. on quit have also been taken away. I wish features could be left as user optional vs features disappearing. This has been my issue with Google, they have great products but they keep killing off or hobbling everything I use.

I really like Chrome's efficiency and how smooth it runs. But downloading with it doesn't leave that much of a good experience. Especially since when you want to download a file from drive( a big file) it is so slow and gets interupted if I am not on the drive app. Also why we can not add extensions to android Chrome? There are many useful options that we can not use iron android.
I enjoyed using Chrome for a long time. It's mobile usage has been very good, but they're eliminating a lot of the things that make it easy and good for me to use as they push new experimental things forward. Particularly the tab groups are very frustrating for me, as I tend to open a lot of web pages from a single source, and it's all too easy to lose them all by closing the tab group accidentally when I want to close only one tab. Stop pushing this feature, I don't want it.
The most recent update broke the password manager. It will no longer sync my passwords stored in my Google account. When I'm logged in with sync turned on in the mobile browser, it shows I have 0 passwords saved, when I actually have hundreds which can all still be seen on my pc browser. The only way to get them back was to uninstall Chrome updates on my mobile app and use a previous version.
Ever since the update last week, the formatting on chrome has gone wonky. Pages don't load correctly, and don't appear fully on the screen on my Samsung Note 10+. I've played with screen settings and tried using the computer screen viewing feature which help a bit, but this is a page-by-page patch at best to what had been my preferred browser. If this doesn't get fixed soon, I may look at other browsers as this has killed easy use of chrome on my Android phone! Boo Hoo!
Would love an option for the "search inside image" to be disabled...or stop having the text "pop up" on every image i click on, just leave the little image in the corner. The "pop up" with the text "search inside image" is not needed at all Stop allowing the keyboard to change when i use chrome vs other applications on my phone. Its infuriating because I'm used to aiming for one input (the space bar and period get shifted)
The way they changed the tabs in the recent update is terrible and not user friendly. Previously you could have multiple pages open in a single tab, but now you just have a ton of individual tabs and can't even see the page preview any more. I've had specific pages grouped in different tabs for actual years and now that you can only see the titles of the pages when trying to switch between tabs it's extremely inconvenient, frustrating and not the user friendly experience that it previously was.

Updates to the open tabs navigation are progressively worse with each iteration. I imagine most users would revert to the older, more intuitive tab navigation types. Illogical updates from user perspective! Edit: Strangely, the functionality returned almost immediately after this review (?). Unfortunately, it has now reverted to a list format. Time to move find alternatives where possible.
Seems I'm not the only one having problems. For whatever reason I cannot update the chrome app. This and one another Google app just won't update. It came pre-installed on the phone, so I can't delete it. I tried restarting, uninstalling the updates, and also the apk directly, no dice. It will download the update through GPlay but it won't actually update. Edge and Firefox work fine, which is my work around until this is addressed. Hopefully that isn't permanent. Edge has actually been great.
I'm downgrading my review, because Chrome has added "features" that are just terrible. Like reloading a page while I'm trying to fill out a form. If I want the page reloaded, I'll reload it myself! There are other things I just can't think of them. I've used Chrome for years, along with other Google products. I like the way they integrate.

I don't know what happened in the latest update, but chrome had turned to complete garbage. It will say it's crashing even when it's working fine, and it will re-download pages that haven't changed in years (e.g. blog posts, etc), making you lose you place if you happen to put your phone down while reading something. It has just turned into unreliable garbage.
Chrome has been helpful to me for the past years, it's very easy to use and to understand but this app can be quite dangerous cause it contains dangerous sites that has viruses so be aware of that. And also, I don't like it when I close the app then open it again just to come back with an extra tab opened, fix that please.
Been great up until this point. Could be an issue on my phones side but the app suddenly disappeared. I can still open it by going through the app store but the icon is completely gone. I've reset my phone, reset app permissions and preferences, and even accepted the update I've been putting off for a little while, nothing seems to get it back.
Not the best in terms of interface. There are many better browsers these days. My major cause of concern is the annoying "ding" sound it makes when you do a search by voice on Google website. There's no setting to turn it off. If you mute the sound in settings it only disables the readback of the search results that follows the loud "ding". It only goes away if you put your phone on vibrate or silent. But i don't want to risk missing my calls just for this small thing. Deal breaker!
Never had any issues until today. I love Chrome until today... frequent crashes and not loading pages. The developer responded with ideas on how to fix issues. I should have included in my review, I had already tried resetting the app data, and I also uninstalled and re-installed the app completely, without and fixes to the crashing issue. I will look into what the experts have to say.
