Desmos Graphing Calculator App DESCRIPTION

At Desmos, we imagine a world of universal math literacy and envision a world where math is accessible and enjoyable for all students. We believe the key is learning by doing.

To achieve this vision, we’ve started by building the next generation of the graphing calculator. Using our powerful and blazingly-fast math engine, the calculator can instantly plot any equation, from lines and parabolas up through derivatives and Fourier series. Sliders make it a breeze to demonstrate function transformations. It’s intuitive, beautiful math. And best of all: it’s completely free.

Features:

Graphing: Plot polar, cartesian, or parametric graphs. There’s no limit to how many expressions you can graph at one time – and you don’t even need to enter expressions in y= form!

Sliders: Adjust values interactively to build intuition, or animate any parameter to visualize its effect on the graph

Tables: Input and plot data, or create an input-output table for any function

Statistics: Find best-fit lines, parabolas, and more.

Zooming: Scale the axes independently or at the same time with the pinch of two fingers, or edit the window size manually to get the perfect window.

App REVIEWS

I love it, it's extremely useful except for 1 thing, which is why it's 3 stars It's mainly aimed towards graphs, and doesn't allow too many things unrelated to them I know that sounds stupid but, I really love the calculator part, there's a lot you can do with it I just wish there was an app just has this calculator, and even though therefore the scientific app, that one has much less features, and you can't make functions in it Basically math: the programming language

Sayantan

This is an excellent app for viewing graphs. It shows no add, you can use it very peacefully.

Ish

Beautiful app, but navigating is frustrating. If you have multiple functions, tapping to edit one will put your cursor in the wrong one, making it difficult to work in the app. Also, not being able to copy anything with the keyboard makes it tedious and frustrating. It's still a very effective app, though, nothing like it.

Dhruv

It is really helpful to plot graphs of functions, which makes it easier to understand the function and calculate it's properties, along with critical points. I feel there is a possibility to add some extra features like 3D-plotting and added recognition of some mathematical & physical constants.

Nishay

Awesome, both on app and website. Very clean interface with no clutter and no ads. All the calculator functions are neatly foldered. Also, it's convenient to save graphs with Google account. The calculator is quite powerful and is able to carry out select calculations that Wolfram Alpha has trouble doing, like definite integrals. Also grapher is very precise; if you zoom in enough you can get more than 12 decimal points. Overall a great app and has helped me in high school, college and beyond :)

Thomas

Glad y'all switched the logo color back to the iconic green. Desmos has always been one of the best graphing calculator services for its ease of use and power as a visual tool and problem solver

Oh

I've been using desmos regularly for over 2 years and I can say it is the most powerful graphing calculator for its price, this not only allows you to graph 2 dimensional graphs but it allows you to make 3d or even 4d graphs. Not to mention the fact that you could even make a game engine entirely in desmos. Caviots have to be scrolling through functions and the inability to copy and paste functions but that's about it, truly worth downloading.

Jyoti

This app has 2 problems for which i give it one star , no.(1) - some time when i goes to open it , it can not be opened , there only blink "desmos" on screen , no.(2) - some time when i write a function ( like - x , x² etc ) it can not graph it . Please fix the problems

Ben

This has lots of potential but ultimately falls short. Pros: Lots of built in functions; integral, sort, sum, pdf, cdf etc. Sliders to visualise how values change functions, really cool! Dark mode! Cons: Does not save any local state, even settings are lost! Why? Can't copy or paste, you have to manually type everything. Clunky UI. Have to go back and forth to type numbers, brackets and symbols. These cons are deal-breakers for me. I'd be happy to pay in order to not have an account.

Axel

Great tool. But the interface for equation input can be tricky. It's only possible to scroll to the end of an equation that is longer than the input field by moving the cursor with the left/right buttons of the onscreen keyboard. Those buttons are dangerously close to the delete button so you may inadvertently erase part of your input or, even worse, all of it by accidentally hitting the X when you try to place the cursor as far right as possible.

James

The keyboard needs to be updated. Some of the input variable buttons are completely white on my screen so I do not know what I am inputting into the graphing calculator and have to guess what these buttons do. I would recommend changing this immediately, and having the entire keyboard reconfigured making sure that each of the buttons can clearly be identified with what they input. Please fix this issue/bug. Thank you.

This is an advanced calculator that you'd pay alot of money for to do math assignments for classes, except that it's simpler to use, has different graphing methods up for you to simply plug in and give you the answer, allows you different colored and textured lines to distinguish your functions, graphs instantly, allows you to zoom in and out pretty much infinitely.....so in almost every way, it's better than a calculator you could get in a store and pay over $100 for, except this is free.

This is basically a straight port of the web app. Has literally all the same features as the site, can sign ㏌ & save/load graphs on the same account, etc. AND IT STILL HAS NO ADS. The only reason it's 4 stars ㏌stead of 5 is because the function ㏌put boxes don't allow copy/paste since it doesn't use the natⅳe keyboard (though this is probably un㏌tentional), which limits iʦ usability. Aside from that, it's a great tool that's free of charge and free of ads, which is unfortunately a rarity nowa㍲ys.

desmos is a wonderful tool, and i see myself using it all the time to try little things out. but i'm not here to rate desmos, i'm here to rate the app. and theres not much to rate there, since the app is literally just a container for the desmos website. its a good container in that it loads quite fast even on slow connection, but since it just chucks a (not very well mobile optimized) website at you, its quite clunky and not very responsive

The app is great and useful. There is one bug though where when you change the name of any folder a blank white screen appears and blocks around 40% of the view for portrait (less for landscape) but is removable when typing into the equation section. It'd be better if I don't have to do it though. Another bug is that when moving an equation tab(?), sometimes it won't follow through(fixed when restarting the app). Those bugs aside, the app is great and easy to use.

This app is really handy: it's powerful enough to use for basically any math class requiring graphing functions, and a lot of fun to play around with! There are some frustrating design oversights though. The most glaring to me being that you can't (or at least I can't) scroll longer functions to edit them, and it's basically impossible to tap the edge of it to bring it into view without deleting the whole thing. Besides little annoyances like that, it's great; I hope development continues!

Guest

One of the best app to learn everything about graphs. Just type a function and the graph will appear. Appreciate the developers for adding different colours for different curves which makes it easier to understand the shape of the curve and intersection points. Great to see that they have included a slider option so that you can manually slide the constant value to see how the graph reacts. Great Job developers. You helped me grow interest in Math.

Wow, this is above and beyond what I was looking for. After being fed up with the tiny screen, buried menus, and time consuming edits of graph sizes on my Casio fx-9750GII, I thought "Why the heck am I using a seperate calculator when I have a smartphone? Surely someone has made something better than this 10 year old clunker!" They did! I would gladly pay for this app, but it's free! One less thing to carry around and making graphs on here us actually fun! Thanks Desmos team!

Guest

Fantastic and incredibly useful. PLEASE change it back so that one can scroll laterally through an equation on a given line!! This makes plugging different numbers into the same formula so much easier! For longer formulas, when the end of the formula is off of the screen, and not being able to swipe to the end, there is a high probability of hitting the clear line (x) button when trying to plug new numbers in to the end of a given formula!!

Guest

I love this app. It's so very useful. For some reason, my expression list is vertically aligned, and it competes with my viewing window in such a narrow space. It didn't do that before, and I don't know why it changed, but I would definitely rate higher if I could switch it back to horizontally split with the viewing window.
