Disclaimer: I normally love this app and it has so many resources. This recent issue is extremely frustrating. Great app but yesterday started glitching mid question. If I click Next, it starts playing a new question but 2 seconds later it then plays a different question. Very frustrating.

Hello. Please update to the latest version 3.9.46. Apologies for the inconvenience!

vineet

I've been learning music for a few years but never really worked on ear training. This is a perfect app to train your ear without the help of anybody else.

Tyler

It's a good app, but not so much for guitarists. For instance, it will fail me sometimes for choosing B instead of C flat. C flat does not exist on the guitar. It's making some exercises nigh on impossible

ysh

Bug report: the rhythm practice tempo cannot be saved to next practice, and not able to be modified in next practice. Reproduced several times: go into a rhythm practice, modify the tempo from default 80 to 60, finish current practice (10 tasks) without issue; click next to directly go to next practice, noticed the actual tempo went back to 80 while the tempo setting was still 60; modified it to 120, the actual tempo was still 80; quited and went into the practice again, the tempo config works.

Hello. Thank you for reporting this. I will investigate it. One note, tempo changes in the individual exercise are meant only to affect that exercise by design, there is a global tempo setting in app preferences that allows changing the default tempo for all exercises. But the rest of your description definitely sounds like a bug.

Michael

Please the rhythmic tapping exercise is now very faulty.. The tapping and metronome sound are really lagging and it's distracting even after I've calibrated it. I bought the premium mainly because of that and it has been faulty lately pls.

Ryan

Choosing guitar does not work. I purchased to improve sight reading music. Specifically for guitar. This app has sight reading drills. And it has an option to choose guitar as your instrument of choice. Which is useless for learning to read music unless you already play PIANO and know every note on every piano key by sight. ONLY PIANO works as described. I emailed the developer to no avail. I'm thinking of disputing charges with my bank.

Michael

Quite like this. However the display of the stave is a little odd. I use Guitar Pro. When putting in the tab illustrated in an exercise - the app is reversing the note location on the stave. Not sure why that would be so. Otherwise, quite enjoying using the app

Michael

In my opinion this is the best app of its kind, at least among the ones I've tried. Everything works well and there are lots of ways to build this into a musician's practice regimen. Flexible and useful. One thing I would really appreciate as an addition would be deeper analytics. Being able to see how quickly your average accuracy improves (or doesn't) week-by-week would be helpful for serious musicians trying to track their performance in practice. But that would just be a bonus!

Wanderso

It is an excellent app for ear training and music theory, guitar as well. Here are some improvements suggestions: 1. Simultaneous keys in the virtual keyboard for chords; 2. Portuguese Version for more people in Brazil. Is there any chance to take those in the next versions?

Severin

Struggled with aural skills my entire life due to not ever getting a proper music education. Now I can halfway match a pitch and have been recognizing intervals better. If you can be consistent and disciplined you can make progress. My only gripe is the free piano sample can occasionally mess up my pitch perception across the barrier where the sample changes but that's probably a reason for more ear training

Rocco

I have the full version, if you can spare the few dollars it's totally worth it especially if you can't afford musical education. They also have clearly written theory lessons and some different variations, my phone is old and it runs really well except the rythym part because my phone is too laggy. Highly recommend has been instrumental in my musicianship.

LeRoy

I graduated with a degree in music, then attended, and graduated from, a conservatory. I'm always looking for apps my students can use for training when they've got a few minutes to burn, and this does nicely.

Shay

Perfect Ear is absolutely fantastic. I wish I had it when I was studying music in highschool. It's fully customisable, but I find the default progression kinda perfect. There's an optional theory lesson for every exercise. The free version will get you pretty damn far, but I decided to buy all of the upgrades. That was a while ago, but from memory I think it was around $10 or less in total, but you can always just pay for the bits you think you'll need for only a couple bucks.

Thomas

Perfect ear is an amazing way to help learn music theory. Using just this app I was able to learn all seventh chords, and more. There is some in app purchases, but the full excersise one is definitely worth it and suggested. I 100% recommend this app.

Lucija

Love the app! It's very much like the actual solfeggio classes I had in music school, but bite-sized and more fun; really good for practice. The UX of the app is also great: clean, customizable, intuitive and stable. The premium package is absolutely worth it.

shitpost

The only thing missing is more responsiveness when playing sounds, as in, for example, I have the piano in front, when I press it there's a very noticeable delay, also the ability to press various notrs at the same time for example

Oliver

For ear training, I only recommend it for interval training, *not* for scales : only 7 notes are played on scales so the last interval is missing, especially important for minor scales. For read training, for rhythm the metronome visual beats (which should tell you what is first beat) does something weird, lags behind the sound or something. It would be better if instead the beats were shown via a vertical bar moving across the measure, OR the first beat was different (then visual not needed).

Geron

I have had this app for over a year. At first I had the free version, which worked fine. It has had some minor problems, but I have noticed that they have patched out the issues I have experienced. Once I upgraded (a one time purchase), i have loved the app! Very helpful on keeping me sharp and giving me quick practice. I wrote the above review a few years ago (I think). The app has gotten even better since then. Love this app, and the partner app Clefs

dimitris

I think this app is a very good tool. I was so excited that I bought the premium content. It really helped me alot training my ear. Please make better the midi sounds, especially for the violin. It sounds mediocre when the intervals are in the playing range of the instrument and bad when it's out of the range. My suggestion is that you should put a recording of all the stringed instruments so there is a natural sound in all the range of the exercises.

Kyle

UPDATE: still using this, still a great learning tool. Excellent app ear training. Simple to use, loads fast, responsive Highly recommend paying the extra few bucks to unlock everything. Free version has no annoying ads. I use this when I get a few minutes... And I'm getting better at hearing intervals, chord qualities, scales, inversions. Seeing the exercise results in guitar/piano layout is a nice touch, since it's helping me to learn the guitar fingerboard. I wish all apps were this good.
