Gerald

It's a 50-50 chance the plant identification is correct. My problem currently is cactus identification; this app is wrong on every cactus I have submitted in the past month

Yve

How can I cancel or change password since the app keeps stopping. Urgent this is a security issue
----------
Hello Yve I am not sure I fully understand the issue you are facing, but it looks like you are using a very old version of the app, the easiest solution would be just to uninstall the app from your phone and then reinstall the most up to date version directly from the Google Play Store. Thanks for using PlantSnap!

Thomas

Poorly designed app. No way to insert an existing picture to the app for identification. Instructions are poor. Mnay other plant ID apps are much better and easier to use.

Discorde

After a year, it has yet to ever correctly identify a plant for me. So I updated the software and gave it one more try. This time it kept crashing while trying to start a force product survey. Good intentions but very poor execution of that was a product satisfaction pole. When I figured out how to bypass the crashing survey, it failed to identify a plant once again. Uninstalled. Too bad, I was hoping for a plant version of the Merlin app for birders.

Bruce

Most times excellent, some plants do confuse the app. 🤗

Theresa

Worked pretty good when I lived in Ontario. For the life of me, I can't figure why it hasn't worked since moving to Nova Scotia a year ago. The suggested matches are now so different and only occasionally will I find a closely resembled plant in the list of suggestions, usually at the bottom of the list. Just discovered there is an update and hope that fixes it. I loved using this app prior to just over a year ago, but since then it has been frustratingly useless.

Darren

Have been using this app for quite some time now and it has failed to identify a single Australian native plant, which makes it pretty useless to me where I live. I took five different pictures of the same shrub and it came up with five different results, none of which were correct. Uninstalled.

Frankie

Pretty ad heavy, which I wouldn't mind if it worked well. The inclusion of ads to buy plant food, or buy the plants, are honestly not too obtrusive. Now the problems: 1. The plant identification accuracy just doesn't seem that good - it often chooses things with very little resemblance; 2. The comparison images so you can verify visually are awful. They have terrible stock photos covered with stock photo labels, and at low resolution. 3. It looks like it may well not use GPS data from photos.

Roy

The app was unable to identify the specimen. Has been unreliable for quite a while. I used to be much better about 3 years ago, but lately i am not pressed, shame really a wonderful idea.

BSLizard

As bad as all the other plant identifying apps. I took three pictures of one plant and got three different names for it, and none of the given plants' pictures mached with mine more than superficially: long narrow leaves growing from the center; there's quite a few of those!

Kulalani

Very dissapointed. So many ads and buying options on the screen that very little plant ID info is visible. More a plant shopping app. Wasnt able to find a way to create a personal library of plants searched for reference, etc. Very limited pictures of plant to use as comparison or to see it in other stages. App has been useless to me. I work at a public garden and am constantly ask to identify plants. Maybe i'm using it wrong. But then it should be more intuitive. Switched back to Picture This.

My

This app is amazing. I realized why so many people have trouble with it, and it has to do with how the picture is composed. To analyze it better inhad to make sure to isolate something characteristic of the plant and have it stand out, different colors in the background or everything blurs together and it has trouble distinguishing the plant. I also think people expect it to be perfect everytime which is a bit unrealistic.

I hadn't used this app for a while but recently started to again. The overall app experience has degraded quite a bit imo. I used to get correct results 90% of the time, but now it's more of a 40% chance it will be correct. I used to be able to simply "correct" the identification if it was wrong by tapping on the correct plant, but now it's much more complicated. Snaps no longer automatically save and the process to save them is pretty annoying.

This app does a truly amazing job of identifying plants with great accuracy. I showed it to a landscaper and even he was blown away (then he promptly downloaded the app himself). There are, however, some features I would really really like to see. I’ve listed them in order of relative difficulty for the app creators, going from easier to more difficult:1) Country of origin2) Native/non-native indication for my area. 3) If non-native, an indication of whether the plant is classified as invasive. This would be of great use to me as I try to establish an all-native landscape for my yard and the woods behind my home. But please know that this app as it is has already made that project so much easier. Thank you!

I don't know where to start. Well first if all the app hardly works. Sometimes it works, other times it just freezes up, and then the app shuts off. When I have a clear picture of a flower, it always says re take, and then freezes up. When it doesn't freeze up, when I'm in the middle of taking pictures of flowers to ID, multiple ads just pop up and start playing. When I lead the ads out, the app shuts completely down.

Not worth wasting the download, and certainly wouldn't pay the $9.99 for the paid version. Support got back to me very quickly, however, after checking through all the other not so good reviews, their answer appears to be a standard, almost like a copy and paste answer. Their ongoing opinion is it's NOT the app that's wrong. It's always the photo! My photos were perfect and in accordance with their requirements. Still can't identify correctly!

It only identified about half of what I tried to identify. That's not great, but it still helps because it's a lot faster than searching the web trying to identify things on my own. The plant information page provides plenty of photos to help you make sure the identification is correct. You can swipe left to go to the next photo, and tap the photo to go into gallery mode where you can zoom. Sometimes I've gotten 30 second video ads in the app.

Not very user-friendly and poorly designed. I always seem to be hitting the wrong buttons as it's not very intuitive. It tells me I'm out of snaps before I've used even half of my quota. As for identifying plants, that part is pretty good. It is prone to error messages and glitches, however. I would therefore be very reluctant to try the paid version.
----------
Thank you for your kind feedback. We are aware of this problem and are currently working on solving it. Please update your app to the latest version when you see an option.

I have never yet been able to have this app identify a single plant for me. It may well be that the paid for app is better, but until the free app gives me some confidence that it can do what it promises, I'm most certainly not going to put money on it. (hardware used was Samsung S4). It currently doesn't even give me any suggestions at all. I take the picture, it "thinks and thinks", some red bar flashes up for a split second, then it quite simply ignores the photo and I can't retrieve it.
----------
Hello! That is a permissions issue with your camera. If there is no permission given for camera/gallery access, PlantSnap won't work. Also, please note PlantSnap works and is 94/5 accurate but the image quality and how you frame the photo really matters. Please write to support@plantsnap.net so we can help you.

I only downloaded this App today and have tried it on a few plants. One tree's leaves I pictured, I submitted several different pics in several conditions, i.e., taken in full sunlight, in shade, with flash, without, etc., but got a different result each time. I wasn't able to verify any of the results as I didn't know what the tree was. It might have been useful to see the whole tree come up in the results. The idea is very exciting and I hope to get more consistent and accurate results as I continue to use the App.
