Google Sheets

Nothing intuitive and menus never have what you want to do. I try to delete multiple columns I don't need and when I press and hold on a column to get a menu there is nothing there to allow you to select, move, or copy a column. There however is clear or delete. There is something called group and ungroup whatever that means and good luck trying to find out what they do. There's nothing anywhere that explains how to do anything. If you go to you tube nobody speaks English you can understand.

Would help if we can define named range on our mobile. On my samsung a8+. My files sometimes becomes view only for no identifiable reason... newest problem as of this morning (22 sept 2023): a file I made in Drive, and have always used with Sheets suddenly becomes an excel file, and refuses to open. Downloading it and opening it offline works, but saving becomes a chore and uploading it back into Drive just repeats the exact same problem (something about incompatible shapes, I dont use shapes)

Randomly goes into view-only mode. Really frustrating when I'm in the middle of a meeting or a workout and my sheet locks up on me. EDIT: Happened again 8 times the past week. I keep getting locked into view only mode. Will have to switch to Excel, bad app.

All of sudden "a network error has occurred. Please make sure you are connected to the internet and have access to open this spreadsheet." I AM CONNECTED and have permission. I tried clear cache, clear data, uninstall, re install, digging through app permision and open file from other device with owner of the file's account to check if I still have permission (I STILL DO), but nothing works. This is frustrating I think I'm going Excel instead.

The Android and iOS version of Sheets is so limited that I can't perform the basic tasks required for my business. Making matters worse, Sheets cannot run in a browser, because the browser defaults to opening the app - even after I disabled this "feature" in my OS' settings. Deleting the app makes no difference - google simply refuses to run the web-based versions of their apps on mobile devices. For digital nomads like myself, Google has no solution, so I'm moving to Microsoft.

The program is great, thank you, dear developers. The only problem, I often experience with it - it gets me into "view only" mode without any visible reason. I'm fixing that with re-installation of this app. This problem occurs for over a year now. The intervals between those problems tend to get shorter. It might last only couple days to couple weeks now, while used to be months before.

New mobile update ruins sheets. Whenever I open up my task tracker spreadsheet on mobile, the whole sheet gets completely mangled. Restoring the history on desktop alleviates the error. As of right now the mobile app is unusable for me - I'll update this review when functionality is restored.

In the last couple of weeks I've had problems with the permissions on multiple Google Sheets. Sheets that I've created (and shared) change to "View only". If I change the sharing permissions (from those set to anything else) this fixes the issue but it manifests itself at a later date. This is an invaluable app upon which I've become highly dependent.

Almost unusable. I need to dig into my phone's settings and delete the app data frequently. The ONLY thing I use this for is tracking my workout at the gym, and it can't even manage light use of a basic spreadsheet without getting forced into "view only mode" and requiring a reset. It can even happen in the middle of using it. The fact this is still happening in 2023 is frankly astounding. This is on a phone that just released this year. I'm going to try Excel instead, Google clearly won't fix.

Almost very good but needs few improvements. In Google Sheets, We would like to see a feature where one user can set filter for themselves only and that filter doesn't impact other user's view.

I've been using Google Sheets for a couple of years. Recently, the 'importhtml' function has deteriorated in terms of loading speed. Functions that used to work fine a year ago now take much longer to load, sometimes up to 15-30 minutes (previously generally only take about 1-2 min to load). Additionally, the formula doesn't respond immediately; for example, when you input an incorrect formula, the cell continues to display 'loading' instead of showing an error.

Basic functions of "add" and "delete" cells is not available on mobile. You can only add or delete entire rows and columns. Pretty useless to not have individual cell control. It's infuriating. These cell functions are ONLY available on desktop. Otherwise, it would be a great app.

I made the mistake of allowing an update, and now the quick symbols above the input box are suddenly 50 times bigger than they used to be, making it a useless box where you have to scroll back and forward to find anything, and they've changed the dark mode colour to a sickly yellow. No way to chat ge them back that I can find.

For some reason, all the data you put in a cell will only save if you press the checkmark on the top-right of the textbox, and will automatically revert to its previous state if you exit text editing in any other way. Also, the app is not great at handling large spreadsheets, frequently crashing and forcing you to wait before it will open again.

A year later, and the dumb app still forces you into a VIEW ONLY state despite being the ONLY owner and viewer of files. And, the only way around it is to uninstall and reinstall the app. And this isn't a new bug, this has been around for a few years now and Google refuses to fix it. This could be a damn good app if you actually listen to the folks that use the app. But, guess that's too much like right. Go figure....

While it is good for basic edits on the go, if you want to use it for actually large scale work it's no good. There are many features missing in the app version that you can only access via the browser version which is incredibly frustrating if you need to do something specific but aren't near a computer.

Edit: Appears to be fixed for now... Not sure why, but this keeps freezing when you try and type in a cell. I've cleared the cache, I've cleared all storage. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it... Please don't make me have to use Excel! Still broken after several updates... Not impressed... Having the issue on Google files as well as Microsoft files...

The way it has been designed for a smartphone user is absolutely incredible. Excel doesn't incorporate any of these features and I found it really tough to use Excel on a phone. Excel and OneDrive integration is also very poor. First, it takes so long to load the sheet. Second, it doesn't sync up the same in different devices. I was already using the Google Drive ecosystem and I found that Google Sheets is a very lightweight smartphone friendly service in the Google ecosystem. Well done ✅

Quite good, but with a fatal flaw. When I select a cell, then scroll down and hold to open the copy, paste, autofill menu, data from the selected cells is moved down, requiring an undo. I'm shocked by how well it works otherwise and that it's a project that has been declared worthy of development, but this bug makes it unusable for sheets with more than a few rows.
