The most recent update(it is 7/7/22) turned the app into a dumpster fire. Its constantly crashing on my Note 10+. It won't load messages, hangs for 10 seconds, then crashes. The remote messaging is broken as well. Rarely works, regardless of WiFi network, cellular strength, etc... When it does actually work on a remote device, it will send triplicate messages, pictures, etc... It was viable before the recent update, if not great. Now I'm looking for alternatives. Pushbullet, airdroid, signal..

Horrible, it is blank and takes a minute to load the text conversations. And take a long time to send texts. The new 5g upgrade is a joke. My old phone with old message app is super fast and doesn't have these issues at all. Update: Oh, I just found out this app is secretly replacing my default messaging app. After I switched it back to my default message app, all the issues are gone. So I am just going to disable or unintall it if it allows me to do so.

Update: 7/7/2022... it appears this is working much better now I've been using this app for a long time. This past month I've been having issues with messages taking a long time to send, failing to send, or waiting for connection regardless if on wireless or WiFi. All my other apps work and my service works. If I restart my phone it works right for about a day I was hoping to find I needed an update when I came to the play store.

The search feature is not good. Android's default "messaging" app has a much better functionality. I mean this is kind of a game changer reason for me to switch bk to default "messaging" app. When I search something, it doesn't seem to be taking into account the content of the messages. Also the naming convention of sender is different in this as compared to default "messaging" app, so not having content searching facility is a huge backdrop.

Have been using the app for years with mininal issues. However, lately, with the latest updates, the app gets slower and slower to respond. Sometimes, I would load up the app and expect to see my messages right away, only to be greeted by a blank screen for a good 10 seconds, making me think the app froze. Hopefully future updates will improve things.

Edit: I just had to uninstall it and redownload it fix it. Works great now. --------------------------------------- The app won't open. It just says"Messages keep stopping". I've tried clearing the cache and the storage. I've also restarted my phone multiple times, but nothing I've tried has worked. I hope this gets fixed soon.

The app is fine, but not able to disable the flash message or broadcasting messages (the messages related to 90% usage of data etc). This is very disturbing if we are doing some other works like watching movie in the phone. It will completely stop the process and open a pop-up screen. We have to close the pop up and again resume the process. This is very discursting one

I liked this app a ton more in the past. Why does it keep changing the settings by itself? Especially on the chat features, it keeps changing itself back to default settings. Example; the "hear outgoing message sounds" feature, I have it turned off and bam, it's back on. Same thing with message organization, read receipts, typing indicators, etc. What's up with that? Answer to your comment; I've obviously tried all of that or I wouldn't be here 🙄

Until recently, the quirks of this app were manageable (when it mysteriously lost the ability to send or receive messages, a reboot would usually fix it). But now every few seconds a message pops up saying "Messages keeps stopping" (this has happened 20 times in the two minutes it's taken me to write this review). This is going on continually despite the fact that the app is definitely closed. It's intolerable! PLEASE TELL ME IF I WILL LOSE MY DATA IF I UNINSTALL THE APP OR CLEAR THE CACHE.

1* for attention on an otherwise good experience. Please get rid of the annoying pop-up for enabling YouTube when message previews are turned on. I'm fine with seeing the error message ("An error occurred while initializing the YouTube player.") in place of the preview when it attempts to show the preview. However, the pop-up EVERY time I scroll past a YouTube link is incredibly intrusive and frustrating for the UX.

Idk why my phone service provider thought it'd be a good idea to switch to this instead of their old app, but it's been a nightmare ever since. I'm constantly trying to resend messages because they're not sending properly. Literally about 1/6 of the messages I've sent since using google messages aren't sending the first go around, and it's only been a month. Some don't send even after multiple attempts! I've just given up and tried sending an email instead in some cases.

It has some of the function but none of the trust that I need. It is infuriating to know that a company that will gladly control data to serve its own narative controls my conversations. Further, I can NOT delete this App, which only furthers the distrust. I use it when I have to but am trying to move over to other services when possible. It doesn't help that it still has some issues, like failing to port over my old texts to my new phone. See you on Signal!

Edited to update: nothing Google recommended worked. Every once in a while I'll randomly stop receiving text messages. As of 2pm yesterday, I'm only receiving one text message, every 5 to 10 minutes. I've tried everything-- updating the app, rebooting the phone, sending "STOP," blocking the number. It's infuriating. Also, when I add multiple contacts to a message, the keyboard won't open and I have to force quit and go into the "draft" that's created by creating the group. Also obnoxious.

I've used this app for years without any issues, but now I'm running into a lot of weird problems. Sometimes when I send a message, especially with photos attached, it doesn't ever arrive. It looks like it sent on my end, but they never get it. Sometimes texts I receive will just randomly cut off mid sentence. And I even had one instance where I sent a message, it only sent about half and then it added a chunk of a text from a week prior. Super strange and frustrating.

I love the way thos app runs and the features that come with it. However, where this app is lacking is customization options. Even if you were to make the colors still fit with the theme but be brighter or bolder, that would be an improvement. I am just getting a little tired of the dull colors in messages when I switch theme colors on my Pixel.

Ever since the new upgrade I have been totally unable to receive or send photos, gifs, sound. I am totally unable to operate anything remotely connected with group texting! Can't turn it off, disconnect, or leave the group. I inadverantly moved the group icon to a page and now I can't get rid of it. There are NO instructions on how to do anything with this app. If there is, I can't even find that. Would leave the app but I've got a lot of messages I don't wish to delete. Any help out there.

Let's some messages come through, not others, I can send messages sometimes, but not others, and group texting is nuts. It will separate each group text into individual person's feed, and wants to down load, but can't. This has been a disaster since the switch. we had a family emergency and I am totally out of the loop. People having to call back and forth etc. I have tried all the instructions in the forum with zero results.

Despite it being a good looking app, perfectly functionable and has the ability to set a delay on messages, these advantages do not override the most annoying feature, it absolutely will not remember the default choice of contact number of any contact that has more than one number when you want to send a message. It asks me every single time. There should be an option to remember the choice. For this reason I only ever make it the default app when I want to delay a message, otherwise I hide it.

It was great until it wasn't. I had been using this app for months and loved it. I encouraged friends and family to get it too. Suddenly in the past week or so it became glitchy. Messages wouldn't send. Starting a new messages at times took literally minutes. Even starting the app could take time. It is disappointing because there is so much to like with the features. I particularly love one of the newest features that would show iMessage reactions as reactions rather than show up as a text

App works, but has bugs. On Android, a Google Play error message keeps popping up saying that permission to use phone must be granted, even though permission has already been granted. On the pc app, messages are displayed in reverse order, with the most recent being at the bottom, which is the opposite of how messages come up on the phone app, and there does not seem to be a way to change it.
