I've used this app for a few years and have had no problem but recently the chat feature just isn't working right . The messages just keep saying that the recipient is off line I then have to switch to sms and the same goes for people who are trying to text me. I've done all the trouble shooting I can find and still nothing has worked. UPDATE...I clearly wrote that I already tried the trouble shooting and that it didn't work.

The read receipt icons are a step backward in usability. Words have a clear meaning and are quickly understood by the user. When it comes to usability, design should be implemented to the point where the user doesn't have to think; they just do. Now users will have to learn and remember what each icon means. It's an unneeded hurdle the user should not have to overcome. Just because other messaging apps do it doesn't make it right. Still my favorite messaging app but disappointed with the change.

App works great, really enjoying the use of it. But recently, every time I go to Stickers (under the Emoji section), the app crashes every time, despite clearing cache and everything. Don't want to clear data just yet, in case that deletes my past conversations. Was wondering if there was a fix available because I really enjoy the use of the Stickers. Thanks!

I lost the ability to have the messageuus icon on my home screen. Very upsetting. HELP!? Further comment -- I agree it's device specific. The Consumer Cellular agent I spoke with was aware of the update bit had no info about how it affected my Connect Pad. It's a combo tablet and phone. I have to go through several steps to send a text to someone who is not on my contacts list.

Having issues downloading and loading text/picture messages. Whenever I am using wifi, they won't download, or they take forever to download. The moment I get off wifi, all the text/picture messages load instantly. I already cleared cache files, cleared data, and uninstalled/reinstalled the app. I tried sending you'll an email, but it says that "You have emailed an address that is no longer being monitored."

Not using cellular data to send texts, it defaults to using WiFi, and therefore only sends messages about half the time. I'm not sure how to adjust the settings to use cellular data, because the Google instructions are not correct for my phone, and I've looked, tried to find the place to adjust my settings for this specific nuance, and I just can't find it. It's very frustrating. It's like they're making themselves obsolete by trying to be an internet message system instead of cellular messages.

Used to love this app, even became a beta tester for a while. Over the last few months it seems like most of the chat functions have broke. I thought opting out of being a beta tester would fix these issues (yes I uninstalled and reinstalled and verified I'm no longer in the beta) but I still find that most of the time I have to switch to sms to send a message. This wouldn't be so bad if the "Automatically resend as text" function ever worked a single time for me.

No Mute!?!?! This is so frustrating! You can't mute a conversation, only make it silent. I can't get it to stop sending notices to my watch since it still sends notices if it's not muted - even when the phone is on do not disturb. The only option for the message is "silent" but that still goes through. I love the other features (being about to submit thumbs up etc on messages), but not being able to mute a conversation is a no go and I'll have to go back to the default app that does it.

The fact that I can actually assign notifications to each person that is different from one another, is already better. I like the fact that I can archive and delete messages by swiping left and right. I was always hardcore about standard messages, but I'm actually really liking this function. It also makes a lot easier to search for images, videos, and any links that I share with people.

While the aesthetics are nicer than my phones default app I have a couple issues. 1. the notification sound seems to use the phones default sound unless you actively have a conversation open. 2. If the message app is close and or the phone locked, opening the app into an ongoing conversation puts you at the end of the conversation, not where you left off last. This is painful with many previous messages and having to scroll back to find where you were last.

If I have the chat feature enabled then it really struggles to send it messages, especially to group threads, but sometimes to individuals as well. And when I say struggles, I mean it will sit in sending status for several minutes and sometimes it will notify me when it doesn't send, and sometimes it won't. I'll try again numerous times and no luck. All that effort just to send a text. Very annoying.

It freezes up when used in group chat. It won't send or download all the messages. Once too many in going messages come through, the whole app stops, and it takes forever to view anything. For the most part, it works okay, but there are too many bugs to stick with the app. Edit: I appreciate the reply. I tried to follow the instructions, but that did not work

This app is great! However, it is not possible to set a default notification sound for all messages because it treats almost all of my conversations as individual notification types. I would need to manually set the sound for every conversation. This renders it completely useless for me, because I need a distinct sound for text messages to differentiate them from the deluge of low-priority notifications from other apps.

I have three (3) sore points. 1) The app does not automatically send a response back that you are driving. I know Andriod Auto and the Apple version allow us to respond by speaking. It would just be nice to not have to feel like I have to verbally respond to let someone know I am driving. Every other messaging app I have used has had this option. 2) The inability to forward a message. 3) The inability to "mute" messages you may get repeatedly from a service.

I use this app daily for work texting clients. I frequently use pinned templates. The issue lies when I text into the text box to edit the text the app will tweak itself for a split second which would slow down my workflow. Ex: I Use 2 pinned text; scroll up to edit; after a long scroll to the top of the text box, the text box tweaks out by auto-scrolling as of it were correcting to a certain point I did not command it to go to. Frustrating from day to day

This app is turning out to be a disappointment. Really confusing way of functioning. I'm used to going to either my contacts or simply opening the app and sending the message, yet many a time, after some time has passed I get the message that my message has not been sent. If it has an image for example. It ends up asking me if I want to concert to SMS and then the text is sent minus the picture. Why there aren't even settings to control this app, even the number of words is limited? Not happy

Wish one thing could be tweaked, otherwise perfect. When I open the app, the top half of the page is simply the word "Messages" and it really could be eliminated. Fill my screen with all my texts when I open it up, not waste space. Otherwise, this is great, simple, and effective, and I can't complain with its functionality.

Messages constantly sit in "sending" status. Sometimes just for seconds and other times minutes. This is with a fantastic fiber wifi network that isn't overloaded. Honestly, for this reason alone, it's time to explore other options. It's been this way for far too long. As I'm typing this, still waiting for 3 messages to send. Two with just text and one with an image. I've had enough. 2023 and we can't instantly send a text message?

This app does not have a consistent connection, which is a huge problem! In case of any emergency, you're pretty much screwed! My messages don't send or/and I don't receive them 😒 I've searched for troubleshooting tips but nothing works. It's definitely a headache and stressful, especially for someone with OCD! I love the chat features but the connection is a major downside 👎🏻

Voice texting doesn't recognize the end of a sentence and then provide a space for the next sentence. I tried your suggestion,but it made no difference.as you can see here. It doesn't recognize the end of a sentence.or that a comma was asked for. And sometimes it puts the end of a sentence where it doesn't need one. The voice texting on my Google Pixel 7 Pro is perfect.copy it and install that on my Samsung S23 Ultra. Forums are a waste of my time.
