Google Photos

I am still a big fan of Google photos. I was bummed out to hear of the new option to pay once you reach your storage limit. But I do believe this app helps you to cut down on unnecessary storage of undesired photos, accidental duplicates, & many more... I don't find that the app for the sake of making a buck steers you into gaining or having more space taken up.. just the opposite I think! Im thankful for this app, it had allowed me 2keep yrs worth of pictures organized neatly. Thank you!

Easy to use. Auto sinking is the best, I never lose pictures when my phone , tablet, or computer breaks. All should use this in my opinion. Thank You for your time and have a nice day. Sadly lately my photos are not saving in the quality I take them, they are messed up in color and have lines in them. Not all about 40% of them.

Hi, no problems using excellent app itself. But having problem downloading pictures to device, individual pictures come up with 3 dots and an option to download, but not when selected multiple pictures, no three dots. I know pictures that's on device already won't download. Yes cleared cache etc, still not working. Any suggestions would be helpful.

It's convenient and useful to have a backup storage for photos and videos. It does however desperately need a duplicate photo scanning feature. Along with better facial recognition, and/or the ability to add people to individual tagged folders. Especially when someone's face isn't detected in a picture by the software.

I really enjoy this app and the way it works across multiple devices. It's not working properly with Google My Maps, however, not allowing photos to be easily dragged into a map point as it should. A few sepia or other colour options in editing mode would also be nice. There are so many arbitrary variations that are too mysterious for words and no explanation online of what the many various filters actually are or do.

I'm been generous with this rating, on top of the editing issues already posted I also have issues with the albums, I have my photos in separate folders "albums" as a photo management app it should convert the folders into albums or at least let me add a folder as a album, there's no way to do it. The app is designed just to upload to the Google cloud which I don't use. Hope Google will work on the usability of there apps.

Generally this program has a lot of potential, but it is so difficult to share photos, which should be the main priority for a photo based application. For example, on the Google Pixel 6a you cannot post directly to Instagram besides stories, and generally it is made very inconvenient to do anything outside the app. Which is frustrating because the shared album feature and the variety of tools like the magic eraser are very cool, but inaccessibility gets in the way.

Feb 6, 2023 Update: I just installed the latest update. Can't see any changes on the surface. What irritates me on this app is that I took the time to add descriptions on my pictures, then in a day or so all the descriptions disappear as though I never did it at all. What a waste of time. If these issues have been cleared up, I'll elevate my rating. If not, it'll remain a 1 star app. In response to the deveoper's response: where exactly do you look for goo.ogle/37eSSXM? Nowhere does it work!

Most recent update has completely ruined my organization. Photos are being filed under the wrong dates. I have photos in the January section that when you pull up the details, it says that they were taken in February. Super frustrating. Edit: the Google team suggested I edit the date and time stamps. The date and time stamps are correct when you go to the individual images but in the organization they are wrong. This is not a me issue. It's an app issue. Extremely annoyed and frustrated

And, yet again, for no reason, all the dates have gone haywire, and older photos are not viewable any longer. I'm so tired of this happening. Edited to add for Google: this has happened on numerous occasions, just like other reviewers have mentioned. For no reason, photos will duplicate all of a sudden. Sometimes I have to go through and delete the doubles, and sometimes they will clear up on their own. This time they cleared up on their own, but my photos are arranged by incorrect dates now &

Actually I love this app for everything I can do with it. But my problem is, since a few weeks, my photos are judt backing up sporadically. It always says "Getting ready to back up" and then I have to restart the app or my phone several times, until the app backs everything up. If you're able to help me or if you fix this issues asap, I will change my rating instantly to five stars!

Help! Just upgraded to the new s23 ultra. Made the switch over and went to open google photos. Only shows half of the pictures backed up. I went to the photos web page and they are all on there online but the app won't show them. I tried everything from reinstalling Photos app to deleting app data and cache. Trying to make it reset. Nothing is working! I just want my pictures back without having to go through an internet browser.

More harm than good. Since it auto backs up everything it quickly fills your storage, which is shared with gmail. Recently they seem to have made it much harder to not back up stuff and I can no longer figure out how to exclude specific photos and videos from backup except by deleting them from my phone entirely. It's otherwise a good app but since this "feature" means you need to choose between having gmail and not having photos or videos on your phone it's much more harm than good.

There is no way for me to delete pictures on the app without it deleting on my phone. This app is the absolute worst invasion of privacy and control of your device. I tried turning off my backup, turning off permissions on my device, updating the app, resetting default setting, nothing works. It's a trap to get you to buy into more storage. All I want to do is choose the pictures I wish to upload to photos from my device and not have them connected. This is impossible.

The quality of this app has reduced considerably. I am not able to create links for shared folders. I cannot delete shared folders. If I want to open any new shared folder, it takes forever to load photos & videos (& no internet speed is not an issue. I checked that multiple ways). The app has started duplicating my photos and videos. Even if the duplicated items don't take up extra space, i don't want to see duplicated items on my app. The duplicated videos don't play. End of word limit :(

Average at best for editing photos. Pretty much every photo editing app out there is superior, but even worse is when you try to edit a photo that's been backed up to the cloud storage and it tells you that it's 'Unable to edit. Check your connection' and doesn't even let you download it again so that you can edit it with a photo editing app that is actually fit for purpose. Nothing wrong with my connection. Check your servers, Google!

I never use it, but it cannot be uninstalled so it's just wasting storage space. Worse than useless. Edit: forced to use it for a while after switching phones. It's even worse than I thought. It nags about enabling rubbish google services, lacks configuration options, fails to show all images on my device... If I could rate it even lower, I would.

I absolutely hate this app! I can't view some photos because I'm off line, I can't combine albums, it's always asking me to delete old photos, blurry photos, duplicates and screenshots. I didn't realize it had an auto delete which I had to go turn off! Who knows what pictures were deleted automatically. When I tried to move pictures to another album it would just copy it rather than moving the picture! So then I get a pop up asking if I want to buy storage. My cell doesn't have its own gallery!

I like the app and it works well with the Pixel 7 Pro features. I would rate the app better if it wasn't for the really annoying "unable to edit, check your connection" error that has been happening since January this year. I can edit while a picture is still in the camera folder but as soon as you move it to another folder you can no longer edit it.

This is a great app to keep a backup of your pictures. What I don't like this when it backs it up from my phone it takes the picture from my phone and puts it in the general repository on the Google Cloud, not maintaining the folder from which is was backed up on my phone. In addition to that, I can't file photos into folders within Google photos, but there is no way to see what is still left in the repository that hasn't been filed as a repository just exists as a whole.
