YouTube Music

Switched from Pandora, years ago. I like the new music and being able to find videos of songs too. The mixes are pretty repetitive and I would prefer to create mixes with similar artists, but overall I am very satisfied with the app. I can't even recall ever experiencing technical difficulties either. That's a plus!

I loved Google play using and I still like the way YouTube music works. The only problem is that my music now stops on its own ALL THE TIME. It doesn't pause, the app literally closes. Happens when connected to Bluetooth, headphones, or just playing in the phone. I can't enjoy more than a few minutes, sometimes even seconds of my music without it stopping. Makes paying for this app pointless.

Everything is good. Had all the music I listen to, even the more uncommon stuff. The only problem i have is getting the Cast to stay on. It's randomly turns off every couple songs which is annoying because i like to sleep with it playing through my tv ans their isn't a tv app. I tried accessing my music through my YouTube app but it's too limited.

Good product that could be great. I generally find who or what I'm looking for pretty quickly. After taking some time to give input on songs I like or dislike via the thumbs up and thumbs down, the playlist would definitely get more specific to my tastes then given enough time too specific and start to lack in variety or discovery so I'd have to get a little more involved in doing choices again. A bit pricey but I suppose that's part of what makes it as good as it is. All in all my favorite.

I've never tried any other music apps, so I'm not comparing here. I mean, when you're really happy with something, "Why fix it if it any broke"? I have very eclectic taste in music and from day 1, they not only caught on to what I like, but introduced me to music that I was absolutely in love with and would never have found otherwise. I love the updated quarterly playlists because I listen to so much that even though it's in my library, I can't keep track of it all and I like being reminded. 😊

Horrible!! I have premium, and the songs will continually stop. I restart it, and it will stop, mid song, for no reason. Many times. It's so annoying!! A friend of mine said it does this all the time without premium, but I have premium. You would think they would fix this glitches with the app. Very disappointed. I miss Google music!!!

Works perfectly everytime. By far superior to Spotify and Amazon. The features are perfectly ideal for me and everything I do. In the car, on the ear buds, streaming videos, your play list is always perfect and can be adjusted very fast for the situation needed. Don't hesitate if you like music and want to be the first to hear the newest. This is the only option for me. ENJOY!!!

Most recent update is trash...cannot play multiple songs in a row without it stopping and having to unlock the screen; only then will it play. Stops halfway through songs and is overall a miserable experience. Also, it loads my regular YouTube video account with a bunch of music "videos" in my recommended viewing list. What is the point of having a separate app?

As a premium user, this app has pretty much anything I could ask for! The music recommendations are tuned very well and the interface is easy to use. My only suggestion would be to have a feature that allows the changing of playlist covers, similar to Spotify, so that there's a little more personalization. Edit: The new feature that lets you tune your own radio is also awesome, although it would be nice if you could search for artists using a search bar instead of scrolling infinitely.

I am updating my review of this app years later. At the time I rated it one star. I hated it. However I retried it and now it's my go-to music service. A lot of improvements and I actually prefer the sound of the music over Amazon music. Access to the music videos\ visualizers is very cool. I do think they could improve the UI a little bit as you toggle between downloads and library. I also think they need to implement like Amazon has a system of rating songs

The suggested music mixes are usually good but can get repetitive if you don't search out new music and listen to it. Also editing playlist is INCREDIBLY frustrating. It will not let me remove songs from a playlist and will say I have a song already added to my playlist when it isn't on there. (I know the playlist is only 20 songs because I just gave up). Debating about just switching over to Spotify we're everything is easier and just on one app for music and podcasts.

When Google Play Music first moved to YouTube Music, the downgrade in quality (in terms of interface, music availability, auto-playlist quality, etc.) was dismaying. But YTM has gradually improved over time to the point that I have no major complaints about it now. The auto playlists (aka "radio") are still hit-or-miss, often reverting to the same ten songs and only playing the same songs by particular artists rather than mixing things up. But, dollar for dollar, it's a good streaming option.

This app crashes more than it works. Every song or every other song I have to restart the app because it stops playing no matter if it's on wifi or cellular connection. I have very strong connections on both and have no trouble with Apple music playing. YouTube has gotten so much worse over the last year. It made me cancel my premium subscription because it was so bad. Fix this so we can listen to music and not have to constantly be messing with the app!

I'm paying for premium so I can listen to music while I do work. Ever since the new update ruined everything, the music stops in the middle of songs randomly. If the screen is off, it stops. If I switch to another app, it stops. Even if I actively have the app on screen and open, the music stops and the song disappears. Not only is the new interface ugly, harder to navigate, and was overall unnecessary, but now the app doesn't even succeed at its only function. Please fix this.

I've tried every music service you can think of. YouTube Music Premium is by far, the best sounding, and the easiest to navigate music streaming service out of all the others. Music is important to me. Good sounding music is just as important. Plus the way I can maneuver my playlists in such a way that I can hear certain tunes in any order I prefer,is invaluable. You Tube Music Premium will always be a part of my life.

I just love the layout. Easy to use, easy to find songs, find something new and the option to switch between music and the music video is just so amazing. The download feature, easy and simple. Always have music with or without internet. I've had YouTube premium for years now and the fact you get ad free YouTube with this app and feature is just unbelievable. I don't know how people choose the other options. #notsponsored, I would to be though

Great app I use constantly. I have Premium and recommend it to all my friends and family. Three things I would change. I miss the shuffle button being more prominent in play list, so please bring it back. I also wish the default organization for my music was alphabetical like it used to be instead of recent activity. Lastly, I would hope all videos on YouTube, or at the least the music posts, would be available on YouTube Music. Especially for people who pay for premium.

Music just stops randomly. Also, I no longer have drop down controls so I have to unlock my phone and go to the app to start (restart), stop, change songs. It's especially annoying when you're laying in the tanning bed and the music just suddenly stops and there's no way to restart easily. After years of YTM subscription, I'm really close to finding another provider.

Overall pretty great music app. It is missing a nice feature from Google Play music however. The ability to skip songs without unlocking your phone was a great feature that hasn't been brought into this app as far as I can tell. Discover weekly and new release weekly do a decent job of finding new songs I like! Edit: the feature has been added into app now along with other great features that Spotify listeners enjoy like end of year wrap ups.

Love youtube music. I like the auto-generated stations and the ability to put a mood/genre filter on a radio station. Some features I'd love to see: It would be cool if I could select 2 or more filters (such as workout/rock radio) It would be cool if you could "re-roll" a saved radio station. So let's say I have a saved radio station, it would be really cool to be able empty the radio station and refill it with new songs. Maybe slightly alter the selection of songs based on recent activity.
