Android System WebView

For the love of everything good, please bring back the old gallery's way of organizing albums. Had to do acrobatics to get my albums alphabetized, but the display is big and yucky. Please bring it back. And also please the live lock screen time is shorter, and because of the new "hold to edit" feature on the lock screen I can't even view my video in peace. The font size on notifications is also HUGE and I can't even revert it. Lots of good things with the update but also major cons.

Typing very sluggish in recent update. My Android app uses this webview control as a rich text editor (contenteditable). My phone came with version 87 which works well. When Webview updated to 109, the sluggish typing behavior started. My customers are complaining. May be issue started from previous versions older than 109.

I have tried to update this app now for days. I have updated 32 other apps and they updated just fine. But this one stops at 98% for hours on end and it never completes update. Please fix it so I can properly maintain my phone to be efficient. Ever since my phone is so slow and have reset my phone, turned it on, and have full bars with great wifi at home. Like said all the other apps updated quickly, this one will not go past 98%. Its annoying.

Bloatware memory hog. Android is migrating almost all apps to native webview. I use third party web browsers like Opera that are faster and use less memory. Users should be able to choose whether they want native webview or a browser window. I much prefer using browsers.

Trackware, the new version migrates over ssl dom spread sheets and will force you to keep it enabled:via chrome exstentions. the last version didnt at least worm around. you have to hard reset to remove the migraten bug. it also registers your ad id to blockchain.

After reading 20+ reviews with 18 1 or 2 stars. I decided not to take the chance to update the app. I didn't realise that the app has all these effects (affecting the working of none pre-installed apps ) I am wondering if Google tries to circumvent the restrictions set by the European Union. Google may find themselves in hot water again.

I don't know who decide to take the button for rotation of the screen for some kind of mobile transfer, which could be two opposite arrows for example, but from that moment my screen stop rotating❗ You put a little square in bottom right corner which is not showing always and make it very difficult to control the screen rotation❗ I really don't understand why we cannot have icon for the screen rotation in the sliding down menu like before⁉️ Please fix this❗❗❗

When it said update, it doesn't seem to update, it's in pending mode. Then I have to clear the cache and data from the Play store's app and sometimes it works. It seems to work better when you uninstall- reinstall this app and you can updated that way. Please fix it.

Another pointless app that just messes up your system, and you can't uninstall or even disable it,after all the spy prying goons at Google need to see what you are doing on your devices, because there's simply no other reason for this pointless app that gives no real benefit to your devices.

(using a Chromebook) works when it wants too, this app is needed sadly, but honestly i absolutely hate it. every time it needs to update, it's always a huge headache it never wants to update and always i get an error stating it won't. My internet connection is just fine no issues there, this app needs a serious fix/makeover, so tired of fighting with it. And yes I have cleared caches, restarted my device etc, its always the same answer, won't update. -_-

This is an excellent component, especially for developers. So far, it's powering my browsing experience well and I have had little to no issues with the WebView component. My only suggestion is to update the screenshots to match how the WebView is used in Chrome. Other than that, well done.

Update fails to install and troubleshooting steps do not solve the problem. This seems to happen randomly, even across different devices. But as long as the old version still works I'll stick with that.

The app won't update. It uses resources to sit on "pending" for several minutes, then gives an error message that it can't update because it's waiting for wifi. Gee, none of my other apps have trouble updating o er wifi, but this one can't find the wifi.

Various apps freeze waiting for network even though i have internet. Uninstalled update and it fixed the issue. Samsung S22 Ultra, not an old phone. 1/18/23 still an issue! Google even knows about it! Sony Android Smart TV also uses this. Disney+, Amazon prime video, hbomax all use this and no longer work. Friggin Unbelievable that they haven't fixed this in over a month. Recently IT in my corporation even had to uninstall this from every chrome box and barcode hand held scanner. Pls fix asap!

the webview that comes with my phone is slighty faster but i think it causes issues with browsers so the new update is better. never had an issue with calls or any app. ps. if you can't update go to apps. stop the service (force stop system WebView) then try updating. it worked for me.

My apps keep crashing including chrome, maps, drive and third party apps downloaded from play store. First it takes time to open the app then app becomes unresponsive for few seconds then it crashes and app closes on its own. It happens with all the apps. Even all apps are updated to latest version. Available storage is aprox 7 gb, no heavy app running in background, tried after restart/ shutdowns, uninstalled many unused apps, cleared cache of many almost all apps even though found no solution.

I AM SO FRUSTRATED 😠 This update has been a disaster. My phone is totally bunged up and has forced me to spend hours trying to get back to normal. I too also hung up on an important phone call while opening the phone screen, which now goes to lockscreen after like 1 minute, which l readjusted back to the setting l had chosen 2 years ago! 😳 I admit that some of the improvements are usable, but the mode/routine thing is so unfriendly to set up, if one ever gets it setup...I could go on...

Now when I press answer when my phone rings it cuts the caller off!!! Uninstallled and reinstalled but no good. This is really wrong, the callers think I'm cutting them off deliberately!! Other times I'm on a long journey to a place I have never been before and the navigation screen disappears and have to disconnect use and reconnect whilst driving which could be dangerous!!!!! And other times it says usb device not compatible but works anyway, this app is riddled with bugs and won't fix them!!!

Don't know if it's WebView, but I got the Pixel 6 Pro 10/2020, and suddenly I my 2013 equinox was actually showing Bluetooth song data. I goofed up the Pixel's Bluetooth settings shortly after though and it stopped, and I was never able to fix it. The most recent system update (12.15.22) alongside Android 13 fixed it, thanks Google!
