Yandex Browser with Protect

This has been my default browser for a long while now on all platforms I use , it just works, (Mac, Windows, Linux, Android), hooked up to yandex mail too for years now. When I look at the browser on my phone (Android 8) and tablet(Android 11, soon 12), there are a few features missing on the tablet such as incognito mode, dark theme, download manager, smart camera, my data(can't access my cards) but it's the same version of browser on both, please fix this inconvenience, thanks.

Edit2: "Based on a careful analysis of existing extensions and user preferences," they only suggest THREE extensions. And they're not even the good ones. Luckily, you can install from "other sources" if you know the URL. But, running with ONE extension causes everything to slow way down. Also, there's almost as much built-in spyware as in Google apps. Hard to recommend. Clarification: privacy policy / ToS make it clear that there's LOTS of user tracking going on, similar to Google Chrome.

Yandex is great it's a must to install the optional ѴРИ if you want the ad blocking and I highly recommend it. it just uses it to block ads and good for privacy. I can go to certain sites that are loaded with pop-up pages and they never happen it's great. I still have a lot to explore but so far I give full stars as a secondary browser.

Extensions seem to be completely broken in both this and the Alpha version. You can't turn on the ones that are already in the extension list and you can't download new ones (it gives unzip error). Manually loading an unpacked extension says the manifest is not a valid JSON. Extensions are just 100% not working right now. Also I wish you could have a Dark Mode like Opera so that the pages have a dark background. This is a very important feature to me. Thanks, I love Yandex and hope it is fixed.

Thanks for the feedback! We will try to improve the dark theme in the future! As for the manual installation of extensions, the file access system has changed on Android 11 and above. We don't support it yet. As for the unzip error, write to us using the browser settings - "Contact us". We'll try to figure it out.

The Yandex Browser is pretty cool but I'm finding some problems with the extensions. For example the Discord Set stats extension it crashes after its second use or when I try to install Honey for coupons it crashes the app completely. And it's not usable anymore so I have to clear the data from the app witch I don't like doing. If you can help fix the extensions I'll give it 4 stars

Please specify how much free RAM is available on the device at the moment? Only this extension is disabled, the rest work normally?

One serious issue is the side swipe too sensitive. The slightest swipe left/right when trying to scroll up/down moves to the next page and you lose your place. frustrating when searching images.Will keep on my tablet.Initially deleted, but redownloaded.4stars because it's not just a good browser, it's built on its own capable search engine. It's an issue on my phone, but less so on my tablet. Good candidate to replace chorme, If only the L/R swipe wasn't so sensitive.

Been using for a awhile to find a good browser that will work with extensions since, other browser reworked and loss ability to. This is better then Kiwi because that jumps around and won't scroll on web pages. Although recently EVERY time I click on a link it always opens in a new tab, and makes me choose my browser since I don't set default. I've gone through my settings and still can't fix it. So lowered to a 3 star and looking for a new web browser.

It has good points but has gone downhill. For more than a year I've been getting unwanted Russian language weather reports in my notifications. I contacted support but they could not fix it. For a while You Tube was the desktop version instead of the phone version it should have been. For a while Translate and many other options on a menu were not available. In response to Yandex, I already said I contacted support

I feel I need to expand on my last review. This browser does what most other Browsers offer pretty much the same. What blew me away is their image search. I have tried many times over 20+ years of using the internet for research, to search for a specific image. Google was the only one that would find the exact image that I had uploaded, and it would get it right about 30 to 40 % of the time. Not that great, but comparing to Bing (~5% accuracy), it was a no brainer. This app is at 95 to 99%. Wow!

This is by no doubt one of the most stable browsers available for Android. The user interface isn't very customizable though. Layout on tablets is very good but on phone it isn't. Please make the users decide where they want to position the URL bar. And the menu items would look better as a list in my opinion, and would take up less space. The square/grid icons in the menu take up too much space and look ugly

It becoming my go to browser. Speed dial page needs help when you add more than 3 speed dials there off the screen and you have to scroll down to see them. Open in app should not mean go to the Play Store when you don't have the app installed it should just open in the web browser then. That is annoying because I can't use it with certain websites because they had their own app and it's bringing me to the Play Store. I'll leave it at these two because they really need to be addressed.

I recommend this app as an alternative to other search engines, paired with Yandex Zen, this makes an excellent browsing experience. Select news filters and enjoy your news feed! Use the tableau feature for search favorites, and the starred favorites to save viewing material. Yandex Browser worked when other big name search engines failed and would not work. Beautiful free photo screensavers allow one to change backgrounds on the Zen feed. Translate feature is very well done and helpful.

I'm having a lot of trouble with this app. I signed up for an account in order to keep my bookmarks, tabs and passwords in place after a full factory reset. Not only has none of my settings come back with Yandex, every page keeps defaulting back to RUSSIAN. It is set for English, yet stays in Russian. I don't speak Russian. Everything I click on all displays in Russian. I translate the page back to English but it keeps reverting back to Russian. This app is no longer usable.

It works but upon closing all tabs and exit, it remains in memory and as Active, no ad blocker and many ads are shown, even google ads. These two problems that just about everyone hates is not addressed. Also, it appears cannot make new folder for bookmarks and editing bookmarks is a two step process, 1st bookmark, then go to "edit bookmark". Why not edit when bookmark is being added? The background pics, are they really necessary? I tried to like it but simple issues need to be addressed.

I love the Alice AI! It scans QR codes straight from your pictures alone and can scan words right off of books, and it's not even a separate extension, so amazing! Yandex even has a built in extension catalog that installs new extensions automatically and you can choose whether to turn them on or off (However, I noticed some extensions just vanish for some reason). A must-have browser for people trying to downsize the app space on their phone.

Great app but it has a bug, when I use the translate feature on long texts, it skips random paragraphs. Even if I scroll them out of focus and back, still doesn't work. When I restart the app and try to read the same article with translate button, it skips different paragraphs so this skipping bug appears to be random. I haven't seen this problem with short texts.

So far, a better experience than Chrome. I like the fact that plugins are supported and its more or less minimalistic. I haven't had much time yet to experiment around, but my ѴРИ (Private Internet Access), seems to work with a far better speed than both chrome and fire fox. Unlike chrome, with plugins enabled I've experienced no ads yet. I can say that no matter how good chrome is, the relentless ads ruin the experience. All in all, I will continue to use this browser as my daily driver.

I decided to try Yandex because of the reviews and to play with it to see if I liked it. It asked me at installation if I wanted it to be the default browser and I said no. I later opened a link in an email, and it opened in Yandex indicating it had set itself as the default anyway. I also could not get extension icons like Ad-Blocker to display in the browser bar to show the number of ads blocked. Very slow performance. Not for me. Deleted it.

Please make "go to full site" an option I can turn on for more than just the current page. Particularly since often when I use it it also acts as a back button (glitch I guess).. So I *can't* see a full version of a site. Some mobile sites blow, but I would still like the option to view the site without changing browsers. I need this enough that I may be forced to switch to another browser and I am all settled in here with no other complaints.

Pleasant alternative to Chrome. Will run most extensions for Chrome desktop. Leaving off (1) star as the extension feature will not go to the Chrome store. Instead, you have to go to the store online. It does work however, and it is nice to be able to use Chrome extensions on a Chromium-based platform on Android. Good effort on the part of the developers and it seems to be a very active effort.
