Universal Tuner App DESCRIPTION

The tuner for stringed musical instruments.

Absolutely free, no annoying ads! Fully autonomous and does not require access to the Internet, nor any other additional permits.

This tuner allows to tune a variety of musical instruments: six- and seven-string guitar, bass guitar, gusli, balalaika, domra, lute, ukulele, koto, shamisen, violin, viola, cello, double-bass, kalimba, oud, banjo, guzheng, gayageum.

Lightweight application with a highly efficient detection algorithm. Less memory and CPU usage, which
makes battery life longer, Even on devices with weak CPU response still very smooth and fast, that allows for the tuning process to be precise and quick. This is not like a slideshow with a long delay, as in many other guitar tuner applications.

Minimalist and informative design does not distract, making the tuning process easy and comfortable.

High pitch detection accuracy (up to 3 cents). Works with wide range, allows to tune whole piano.

The tuner’s memory has preset of more than 90 kinds of tunings for instruments listed above, including, but not limited to:
– Standard tune, as well as Drop D, Open C, Open D for a six-string guitar;
– “Russian” and “Gypsy” tune for a seven-string guitar;
– Academic diatonic tune for 15- and 17-string resonant gusli (Russian psaltery), as well as several kinds of “folk” tunes for the wing- and helmet-shaped psaltery, from 5 to 22 strings, including famous “Music Maker”/”Melody Lap Harp” (“Perepelochka”).
– Academic and “folk” tunes for a balalaika;

It allows you to set a pitch frequency for A4, other than 440 Hz.

Tuner mode:
– Auto (default) – The tuner will try to determine which string is tuned at the moment, changing the color of already tuned strings.
– Fixed – quickly double-tap the button for the desired string, and the tuner will not automatically switch to another string. To return to automatic mode, press the button once again.
– Chromatic – displays piano pad to select any note to tune. It can be used to tune up any instrument, even a piano. Chromatic mode is accessible from the drop-down list with the tunes names.

Additional features:
– Playing sound tone of selected string with a single tap;
– The tone generator for tuning “by ear” (tap and hold. To switch off – short tap the same button again);
– Beep when the tuning of the selected string reaches a predetermined frequency.

Very very very nice!!!! Super surprised at all the settings even 432.. Wow.. Installed easily no problems on my 4 year old android phone. Works great, I love the alternative tuneing's built in such as 8,7, string guitars, mandolin, drop d etc etc etc etc. It has worked Flawlessly.. I love it!! I've used 5 others. This is the best Deleted the others this is great!! And it's free. The others came back and needed money to continue after a while. I hate that So far this is the best one I've found.

Has been my go to for violin for at least couple years now. Its accuracy has retired my old school Korg, two pitch pipes, and a turning fork. I get identical results on every phone, a Kindle Fire, and a Samsung tablet. Has always worked flawlessly, and is easy to use. Tried some others but this one won me over immediately. Free, no ads. I would pay with no hesitation for this one's quality and convenience. Highly recommended.

Lucano

This is THE tuner app. As the name asserts, it's free, and it's universal. But wait, there's more! This app is as free as as it can be. No ads, AND it understandably asks for only one permission; to access the microphone. Finally, with a simple and intuitive interface, its ease of use is second to none. There is no room for improvement. It is perfect. Many thanks to you for your generosity.

This app does a very good job of getting your instruments in tune for finding a reference pitch to sing. My only gripe and the reason I gave four stars is because the way the screen slides along the keyboard as you change pitch is annoying and interferes with finding the pitch you want, especially in a somewhat noisy environment. But I recommend this app for tuning, it does the job it needs to.

Tariq

Great app, very accurate. Especially like the in tune beep! Would it be possible in a future update to include a feature that allows one to plug in?To eliminate outside background noises, rather than depending on the external device mic, which makes it difficult to use in live performances/or band practice. Will rate 5 stars when new feature appears in update!

Scott

Great app! Nice clean interface uncluttered by ads or unnecessary flashy things. High accuracy combined with well thought out options make this a winner. One tip: the tuner defaults to auto sensing, and background noise/harmonics can cause the displayed frequency to jump around. Tapping a specific note on the keyboard will lock the tuner to that frequency and make it easier to read.

Dov

I use it for guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro, and fiddle. I love that I can easily create a preset for each instrument's desired tuning and strings, so when I'm going to play I just click in the desired instrument/tuning preset. For each string, I can see the tuning accuracy on the screen and/or press a button for any string to listen to the tonality of the string. I've used and tried a number of these programs-- this is my favorite -- I've deleted the others.

Mark

Excellent tuner app. The only one that I have found that consistently works with bass. For best results use the chromatic mode. Bass mode gets lost and cant figure out which string you are trying to tune and as a result it will not stop jumping from one string to another as it focuses on different overtones. If you have trouble try damping the strings at the nut to cut overtones.

Phylean

I like this app because you can change the setting from guitar to violin, it doesn't take up much memory space, and when it shows the green light because you hit the note perfectly true it also makes a little bell noise that goes "ding" as you hit it perfectly. I never seen an app that does that before. Neato!

Sam

This is an excellent tuner. It automatically can tell the note that I'm trying to tune (presumably this wouldn't work if your instrument was very out of tune) and recognizes the adjustments that I make much more precisely than the last time I try to smartphone based tuning app. And it's ad-free! Just fantastic.

Emma

Pretty accurate, but very difficult to navigate. No adds though!!! That's the good part. It also works well with drones. It'd be nice if it had a metronome, like the majority of tuning apps I've found, but for what it is it's good. Practicle and functional. I haven't had too many problems so far.

David

a good app. it's preciseness is not yet clear. there seems to be a loosey goosey element in the definition of what it means to be in tune and it accepts both as slightly flat and sharp tones as "close enough" to be acceptable. I'm going to give it a little longer. Here's a 1.3.2020 update. Of the free apps for tuning that are available this is still my app of preference. It has flaws, but works well enough for most day to day use.

Eva

It's responsive and accurate. Overall I like it, but it suffers from some major glitches. First, the display of the pitch gets confused sometimes and scrolls frantically back and forth as if searching for the pitch it is to display. This makes it frustrating when I am practicing intonation on my violin. Secondly, it sometimes displays the right pitch but in the wrong octave. If those can be fixed, I would be elated with this app and how well it works.

Ian

Does not collect information about you. No ads or upselling you to a version with more features. Free, configurable, multiple instruments (even weirder ones like the lute) and tunings. Works great. Everything I look for in an app and everything i could hope for in a tuner.

Terrapin

I've tried many tuning apps for Android. This is hands down the greatest tuner app available. Simple, but SO many features. Very high accuracy (depending on the quality of your phone's microphone hardware), ability to change sound frequency, and options for just about every instrument and tuning variant out there. No invasive permissions, lightning fast... I've been playing guitar for over 15 years. Trust me, this is the tuning app you want.

Paul

I like the way it shows the tuning for a string (which you can tap to hear), then, when you play it on your instrument, it shows the note actually played with an arrow pointing out whether to tune the string up or down to get where you need to go. Then, when you get the string in tune, there's a simple and gratifying sound and green check mark which lets you know you've done it. No guessing if you've hit the mark. It then automatically moves to the next string. Really well thought out. Thanks!

Mike

Works well - tunes accurately and the uncluttered display with the 'in tune' notification is especially nice for onstage use. Probably the next best thing to a dedicated hardware tuner, but those aren't free and my old one is broken. I don't do a lot of app reviews but this one deserves a good report. Highly recommended by this long time professional musician

Doug

I like it for the most part. It's respnsive and accurate. What I don't like (and is annoying) is that when you attempt to tweak a note already indicated as in tune, the tuner keeps jumping around waiting for the next note while ur still trying to tweak the last one. Still, it's the best tuning app I've found so far.

Michael

by far the best tuning app I've used, and ive used many. It's accuracy surpasses most other tuners, and for properly setting up your guitars intonation its chromatic feature is fantastic my guitar sounds better than ever. occasionally it gets stuck on what ever note your on but simply silence your guitar or whatever your tuning let the app catch up and then get back on it, and that's rare compared to the other apps.

Chris

I finally got fed up with Gstrings' tendency to not hear my violin's E string and decided to go on the hunt for a new tuner app. Imagine my delight when I came across one that was rated 4.8 stars! Any app able to coax an average 4.8 from an audience as picky as musicians can be I had to check out. Great app! Does exactly what it advertises. A little tricky to know that you have to use the back button once to save your instrument, but a small price to pay such an excellent tuner.
